Beijing Association for Trade in Services (BAFTS for short) was established in September 2007. The Association is a non-profit social organization with legal-person status jointly sponsored by more than 30 industrial associations, research institutes, enterprises and institutions engaged in trade in services. It is a bridge and bond to link up enterprises, unite with intermediaries, and communicate with the government departments. Now the Association membership covers a wide range of sectors such as software, multimedia, law, tourism, exhibitions and conventions, logistics, freight, communications, commercial services and finance. Vice Mayor Lu Hao of Beijing Municipality is the Honorary President of the Association Council. Mme Xiong Jiuling, Chairperson of China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Beijing Sub-council, is the President of the Association Council.
The purpose of the Association is to provide services for the industrial associations and enterprises engaged in trade in services, to promote the development of Beijing’s trade in services, and to provide services for the government to push and promote the development of Beijing’s trade in services.
The fundamental tasks of the Association include: to represent the interests of the industry in reporting to the relevant government departments questions and reasonable requests of a common nature in the industry of trade in services so as to push and promote the construction of a policy and legal environment conducive to the development of trade in services; to represent the industry in participating in the formulation of related laws and regulations and the decision-making demonstration, make policy and legislative proposals, publicize the government’s industrial policy and relevant laws and regulations, and help with their implementation; to actively carry out research in the field of trade in services, collect and accumulate market information and statistics, conduct statistical analysis and gradually establish an industrial data base and a statistical system for the industry of trade in services so as to provide government departments and enterprises with various kinds of information and decision-making basis for the development of trade in services; to actively develop contacts and cooperation with domestic and international service trade organizations and industrial associations, attend or hold such international exchange activities as meetings, forums and exhibitions so as to create opportunities for members to participate in international exchange and cooperation. |
